DUI Overview

California DUI laws are particularly harsh on drivers who have been accused of drunk driving. I am a dedicated San Diego criminal defense attorney, and I have extensive experience in handling DUI cases throughout San Diego County, Riverside County and Orange County. I zealously protect my clients’ rights and can work to resolve whatever drunk driving related charges you may be facing. I offer free initial consultations and welcome you to contact my offices 24 hours a day at (619) 326-8161.

For minor DUI offenses, usually misdemeanors, the matter can often be resolved simply. However, for individuals convicted of second or third offenses, or of causing an accident with injuries, the penalties are more severe. Additionally, the higher the blood alcohol content (BAC) also results in more severe penalties. Involving a San Diego DUI lawyer is important, no matter the particular circumstances of your case and regardless of whether you have prior convictions on your record. Even when your case seems helpless, there are viable defenses which may be used to help you avoid a conviction and therefore serious penalties.

Penalties for Drunk Driving (DUI) Offenses

A sentence for a San Diego DUI conviction may results in mandatory jail time, particularly if the driver was severely speeding, had a BAC above .15%, was carrying a passenger 14 years of age or younger, or was involved in an accident. A first offense will commonly result in loss of license for four months or more, fines and court costs up to $1,500, and possibly community service. As a competent DUI attorney, I work to help my clients avoid these serious penalties. I represent clients in criminal court as well as at DMV administrative hearings to fight license suspension.

As an experienced former Deputy District Attorney, I have experience prosecuting DUI cases. I am familiar with the evidence that a prosecutor needs and I know how to challenge this evidence to get charges dismissed if police violated your rights. Additionally, because I am well-respected by local prosecutors and Judges, I am often able to negotiate favorable outcomes. I strive for the best possible outcome in every single case my firm takes on.
